Overview
This article goes over the steps for a prescribing provider (with a valid NPI number) to delegate ePrescribing and eFax Rx authority to other users (without an NPI) so that they can submit prescriptions on the provider's behalf. Even with delegation, only the prescribing provider can prescribe controlled substances.

Details
By default, Cerbo users who do not have NPI numbers on file can enter medications on a patient's chart but they cannot e-fax or e-prescribe (route the prescription to a pharmacy) unless an authorized prescriber has officially allowed them to route on their behalf.
To set this up, a provider with a valid NPI number just needs to log into the EMR and hover over their initials in the top right and select the option for "Rx Delegation":
That will take them to a screen where they can designate which non-prescribing users may e-fax and e-prescribe (if registered for eRx) under their name:
Once that is saved:
- The "ERX PRESCRIBING" permitted users will be able to write, renew, and route drugs via the SureScripts network under any provider than has authorized them (authorization needs to be set up separately for each provider).
- The "FAX/PRINT RXS" permitted users will be able to write and fax drugs once at least one provider has authorized them (authorizing only needs to be set up under a single provider).
When routing drugs the supporting user will be prompted to select which provider's authorization they'll be prescribing under. Only the prescribing provider can send controlled substances via eRx.
