To track inventory sales to people who are not patients/ do not have charts in your EMR:
- Create a dummy "patient" chart named "OTC Sales" or similar
- Dispense the un-sellable inventory to the dummy "patient" by clicking on the plus icon in the yellow Billing block, and then searching for the inventory item by name in the charges search field on the left. Zero out the charge amount, change the quantity to the number of inventory items that cannot be sold/ are being thrown away, make sure the radio button below the Add Charge button is toggled to "Dispense...", and then add the charge.
Now your inventory will be decreased by the number dispensed to the dummy "patient", and you will be able to see in the dispense history that x # of that inventory item were sold to a non-patient (dispensed to "OTC Sales") on the dispense date.
